City Elections

The City Secretary serves as the election official for the City of Gilmer municipal elections. City elections will be conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code. The General Election for Council District 1, 4 and Councilmember At-Large. Candidates may file for an application for Place Ballot between January 15 and February 14, 2020. The City of Gilmer partners with Upshur County to administer elections and tabulate ballots. Please contact the City Secretary’s Office for info regarding municipal elections like City Council or City initiated ballot items.

2020 General Election

The regulary scheduled 2020 General Election will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2020 for the City Council District 1, 4 Councilmember-At-Large. It was postponed by the Gilmer City Council on Tuesday, March 27, 2020 following the recommendations of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to avoid public gatherings due to the threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Candidates filed an application for a place on the ballot for the General Election between January 15, 2020- February 14, 2020.

VOTING INFORMATION

Early Voting:Early voting will be held October 19-30. This election is being held in conjunction with the county, state,and federal elections. More information on Early Voting polling Places and Times will be posted as determined.

Election Day Voting:Election Day Voting will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7 a.m.-7p.m. at your designated polling place.

Voter Registration: The last day for a person who is not registered to vote to register to vote and be eligble to vote in this elections is October 5, 2020.
