Hiring Range - $14.00-$17.00/hr. DOE

Utility Billing Clerk is the point of contact for all utility services, payments, and billing inquiries. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service, greets, directs and/or assists visitors at the front desk. Receives, screens, and routes incoming phone calls. Responds to inquiries of the public and city staff regarding utility services, billing processes, general city information, and accepting utility payments.
  • Monitors and updates customer files. Daily reconciliation and balancing of the cash receipt system to the city’s financial accounting system.
  • Initiates water connection/disconnection process including processing work orders, direct calls, and installation documents.
  • Processes applications and payments for community development permits (including - building, electrical, plumbing, health, vendors, etc.)
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Customer service skills and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
  • Attention to detail - accuracy of data input, 10-key skills, and quick math skills
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public
  • Knowledge of the use and operation of basic office equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently, follow direction, and multi-task
  • Ability to cross-train in other departments and provide coverage when necessary
  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus, but not required
