Duties and Responsibilities • Reads and maintains various flow meters, water interconnects, meters/gages at water well and wastewater plants, lift stations, and collect samples • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines, including unclogging lines using hydro jets, routers, and hand tools, light and heavy equipment, repairing well pumps, performing minor plumbing maintenance at city facilities, performing connects and disconnects, and testing for low water pressure; exercising and/or replacing valves, repairing lift station pumps, entering confined spaces • Maintains grounds at water plants, water wells, field operations, lift stations, booster stations, plants and other facilities • Repairs water and sewer leaks, including digging holes and trenches, using backhoes and other equipment, and placing necessary shoring • Investigates and completes required work orders • Staff the on-call rotation list subject to un-scheduled off-duty emergencies • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned Work Environment • Work hours are spent in a shop, vehicle, or outdoor environment • Work involves exposure to noise • Work involves call out • Work involves weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours • Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions • Work involves exposure to highspeed rotating machinery • Work requires use of protective equipment • Work involves handling and inspecting equipment containing hazardous chemicals and wastes Physical Demands • Work involves finger/hand manipulation in using hand tools and operating equipment • Work involves standing and/or walking in repairing and maintaining equipment • Work involves climbing, crouching, and crawling, or other non-sitting positions in repairing and maintaining equipment • Work involves lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. • Work involves pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs. • Work involves performing work at chest level or higher, including overhead full arm extension holding up to 25 lbs. • Work involves climbing ladders • Work involves confined space entry |

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively • Ability to work independently, follow direction, and multi-task • Ability to cross-train in other departments and provide coverage when necessary • Bi-lingual skills are a plus, but not required |
